Originally developed by NASA to help astronauts manage extreme temperature fluctuations, this advanced technology has been brought to everyday use by our partner, Outlast. It is utilized in bedding, footwear, and clothing – and now, in our dog beds.

When we chose to make a cooling cover, we knew we had to make it functional but also comfortable - thats why the cover is made from two materials.

The outer layer is a 200gsm cotton, a medium weight comfortable fabric.

Underneath this layer is the Outlast fabric, which keeps your dog comfortable all year round.

Outlast cooling technology works by utilizing a special material embedded with phase-change materials (PCMs), originally developed by NASA for temperature regulation in spacesuits.

Here’s how it works in our dog beds:

Absorbing Heat:
The Outlast material actively absorbs excess body heat from your dog when they lie on the bed. This heat is stored within the phase-change materials, which transition from a solid to a liquid state as they absorb energy.

Storing Heat:
The stored heat remains in the Outlast material, away from your dog's body, keeping the bed surface cooler and more comfortable.

Releasing Heat:
When your dog moves or the temperature around them cools, the phase-change materials release the stored heat, transitioning back to their solid state. This helps maintain a consistent, comfortable temperature.
