WHY A CHEW AT ALL
They are going to chew something.
Chewing is a behaviour, not a treat. Dogs do it to settle themselves the way people fidget, and a dog with nothing to work on will find something. Usually a skirting board. A long chew gives the urge somewhere to go, and twenty minutes of working at something is twenty minutes of a quiet, occupied dog.
WHY THIS ONE
It softens instead of splintering.
Saliva breaks it down as they chew, so there is nothing sharp to crack a tooth on. Antlers, bones and hooves last because nothing happens to them at all, which is exactly the problem. This one is dense enough to take real work and still gives way.
THREE FLAVOURS
The name is the ingredient list.
Plain Beef. 100% beef collagen. That is the entire list, and it is the one to start with.
Beef Liver. 95% beef collagen, 5% beef liver. Richer, and it smells like it, which is the point.
Chicken & Parsley. 96% chicken collagen, 3% chicken breast, 1% parsley. A chicken base rather than beef, and lighter for it.

Which size should I pick?+
Medium is 100 g and suits dogs 10 to 25 kg. Large is 180 g and suits dogs over 25 kg.
Under 10 kg? Medium works, just keep it to one a week. If your dog is a serious chewer, size up: a bigger stick simply takes longer.
How long does one last?+
It depends entirely on the dog, so we will not pretend otherwise. A Large will usually give a 30 kg dog several sessions across a few days rather than one sitting. A determined chewer will get through it faster.
What it will not do is vanish in thirty seconds and a crumb, which is the whole point.
What is actually in it?+
Collagen, plus whatever the flavour name says, and nothing else.
No glycerine, no starch, no sugar, no salt, no preservatives and no binder. Nothing is added to bulk it out or hold it together, and nothing is sprayed on afterwards. What they are chewing is the ingredient.
Is it safe for their teeth?+
It softens with saliva as they chew rather than splintering, so there is nothing sharp to crack a tooth on. That is the main thing antlers, bones and hooves get wrong: they last because nothing happens to them.
As with any chew, supervise your dog and take the last piece away once it is small enough to swallow whole.

A small maker in Wollongong, on the New South Wales south coast, who has been making this chew longer than anyone else in the country. They are dried slowly by hand in small batches, which is why no two are quite the same shape or shade.
