Australian Good Design Award Winner 2026
Judged by an independent jury
Every project in the Australian Good Design Awards is evaluated by an independent jury of more than 100 Australian and international design experts. Each one is assessed against three criteria: Good Design, Design Innovation and Design Impact.
The Good Design Award Winner accolade, the Green Tick, goes to entries that meet those criteria and exemplify best practice design.
“The Jury was impressed by how the design addresses a genuine welfare need for dogs vulnerable to heat stress, particularly in Australian conditions, while remaining practical, accessible and commercially viable.”

The Jury's comments in full
“The Jury recognises the Dazy Dog Cooling Bed for its thoughtful integration of Outlast® thermo-regulating technology into an everyday pet product, delivering meaningful functional benefits through well-considered material innovation. The Jury was impressed by how the design addresses a genuine welfare need for dogs vulnerable to heat stress, particularly in Australian conditions, while remaining practical, accessible and commercially viable. Despite the technical complexity behind the materials and engineering, the final product demonstrates a strong understanding of the problem it solves, combining orthopaedic support with active thermal management in a simple and approachable form. The Jury congratulates the team on creating a purposeful and highly considered design solution.”
What won
The award is for the Dazy Dog Cooling Dog Bed: dual-layer orthopaedic memory foam with Outlast®, the temperature-regulating technology originally developed for NASA, built into the cover. Outlast® absorbs your dog's excess body heat and releases it as they cool.
It was recognised in the Product Design category, Housewares and Objects.
“We spent a long time researching temperature-regulating technology that actually works. We didn't want another gimmicky ‘cooling’ fabric that feels cold for a minute, we wanted proven technology. We found the right partner in Outlast, from Germany, and built their fabric into a two-layer cover so it lasts, does what it's meant to do, and still suits the way dogs actually use a bed. Then we made it complete with our orthopaedic foam, so you just buy the Cooling Bed as it is.”
